Delete excess data around your LiveCycle processes, easily and elegantly

Adobe LiveCycle ES stores a large amount of data when running processes. Over time, this will fill up a significant amount of space on your file system and underlying database. Since not all of this data is useful or necessary to keep, you will want to delete some of this to free up space on your file system. Avoka have developed the Purge Utility, which enables you to delete all the excess data around your LiveCycle processes, easily and elegantly.

The tool provides you with the possibility to select which type of process data instances you’d like to delete, and how old these should be.

There are three types of data that can be deleted in order to free up space on your file system:

1. Purge Events
• Action: Deletes delivered events for which all notifications are delivered, as well as new events that have no associated notifications.
• Result: Frees up space in the database table 'tb_evt_event'.
2. Purge Job Instances
• Action: Deletes completed or terminated jobs and documents associated with those job instances.
• Result: Frees up space in the database table 'tb_job_instance'.
3. Purge Task Attachments
• Action: Replaces content of attachments for completed or terminated tasks with empty data, while keeping the associated file name for reference.
• Result: Frees up space in the database table 'tb_task_attachment'.

The Avoka Purge Utility currently works on JBOSS and any LiveCycle database. Other platforms will be supported soon.

As attachments will be deleted (only empty links containing the name of the attachment will remain) it is essential to back up your attachments before running the Purge Utility.

Licensing

The Avoka Purge Utility is free to download for trial and development purposes. The trial version will tell you how many instances are available for deletion, without actually deleting them. To delete, you will require the full version.
