Hi Murat
Sorry about the delayed reply, I missed your comment earlier.
You can change the submission type from XDP to PDF in the properties of the Submit button.
However!!!
This will not work unless either:
* You're running in Acrobat; or
* The form is Reader Extended.

Please review our blog post on Reader Extensions to understand why this happens.

Regards,
Howard

Hi and thanks for this interesting and very comprehensive set of instructions. I was able to follow them with much success and have my drop-down list populating in Acrobat Reader from an embedded xml.

Some of our workstations have Acrobat Pro, but most of them only have Acrobat Reader 9. The form was developed in Livecycle Designer ES 2 and, saved again in Acrobat Pro to "Extend Features in Adobe Reader".

My question: is it possible to populate a drop-down list in Acrobat Reader 9 from a dynamic xml file stored on the network, rather than embed it in the pdf?

I can only seem to populate it if I embed the xml. Thanks.

Cool article, Thanks!

I like to share another text to speech software Panopreter Plus (http://www.panopreter.com) with Windows users. The software reads text and converts the text to mp3 and wav files with the voice of Microsoft Anna. Best of all, it’s easy to use and affordable. The free edition (Panopreter Basic) is availalbe too.

Can anyone help me with this...
I want to generate an automatic notification via email whenever a user opens the pdf to signup for our service. Our forms are sent to prospective customers by multiple sales agents and we have no way of tracking who has received a signup form and thus can not offer them service or support. Can I insert some javascript to do this?
Anyone have any ideas?

This is from SAP...

"Smart Forms is an easier print form solution that allows you to create forms
using a graphical design tool with robust functionality, color, and more.
Additionally, all new forms developed at SAP will be created with the new
Smart Form solution.

Item 5 in "Pre-populating from the client," states: "The Acrobat plug-in directly calls a web service, passing in the customer ID."

Is the "Acrobat plug-in" that you refer to the standard Adobe Acrobat plug-in used by web browsers, or a custom plug-in that Avoka or some other third-party has written, and which must be located in the ...\plug_ins folder on the client desktop?

Thanks,

Thanks for your explanatory information. I’m working on same issue for a PoC now . But I stuck on configuring LiveCycle to monitor an email box that offline forms are submitted. I guess, I need to prepare a new process that starts with an email startpoint and then I need to use completeTask (Process Management/ Task Notification/ completeTask) operation. But I don’t understand how LC will communicate between 2 different process? Did you write another article about this issue as you mention above?
