This program required a front‐end application compatible with mobile devices that could be used in an occasionally connected environment to capture and store detailed asset information in a primarily ‘point & click’ interface.
Avoka were engaged to develop a PDF‐based survey application to be used on Ultra Mobil PCs. Using an innovative data driven design, Avoka created a form that enables surveyors in the field to collect any of the 20,000+ pieces of information which could potentially be captured during a survey. The form accesses this information without the need for any scrolling or large drop down menus. In addition, the SmartForm not only captures a GPS coordinate to confirm the location of the contractor when they undertake the survey, but also provides an engaging user experience on the small 7‐inch UMPC forms.
As such, the whole solution means that workers in the field can efficiently complete their job to their maximum capacity whether or not they have connection, and that once done, their work is easily relayed back to the office.
