HSBC Wins Compliance Category in The Banker’s Tech Projects Awards 2018

According to The Banker, their Tech Projects Awards 2018 “recognise the most innovative, imaginative and successful projects in financial technology from around the world. This year’s submissions were impressive examples of how the industry is responding to changing customer needs, as well as empowering staff to better serve customers.” You can see the full awards list with information here:

HSBC Commercial Banking Technology won the Compliance Category for their project “Online Know Your Customer (OKYC)”.  HSBC has won other awards working with Avoka – in the spring HSBC won the Celent Model Bank 2018 Award, and you can read a white paper written by analyst group Celent detailing more.

In the HSBC project detailed in this award, the team digitally enabled the existing customer input to their ongoing Customer Due Diligence process, as part of their continuing efforts to update information on Commercial and Business customers to stay in compliance with KYC and AML requirements globally. Linked to their existing systems of record and case KYC management, this project drastically reduced the amount of effort required by HSBC customers, while allowing the bank to streamline its compliance processing.
